Exclusive interview with Matthew Taylor, CEO at the RSA

We interviewed Matthew Taylor, CEO at the RSA, author of the recent Government Review into modern working practices. Matthew has examined the nuances of what makes ‘Good work’ in the 21st Century, considering the perspectives of employees and employers. With all the challenges of economic stress, outsourcing and ‘gig economy’ employment, Matthew points out that “the social contract” around employment, taken for granted in post-war years, has now been broken.

As he says in the Review’s summary:

“The work of this Review is based on a single overriding ambition: All work in the UK economy should be fair and decent with realistic scope for development and fulfilment.”

Our founder, Isabel Collins, interviewed Matthew ahead of our Belonging Summit. Together they discussed the importance of ‘Good work’ and belonging, and the interconnections between the two.

Here are four excerpts from the interview, with the full interview to be shared in the coming weeks.
